On Montessori, and counting your blessings

 “Why didn’t you list that among our assets in the first place?”             -Wesley, The Princess Bride When you start getting into Montessori, envy can happen hard and fast. There are so many beautiful Montessori spaces around the world, so many wonderful materials, and so many photos of these things all over the internet, that it’s easy to go from “Wow, I love this approach!” to “I could never in a million years make this happen” in a matter of seconds. This is me reminding myself of all the things that attracted me to Montessori in the first place.    Reminding myself, and others like me, that you do not have to have all the fancy stuff to reap the benefits.   I repeat: You do not need all the fancy stuff.    And once more, simply because it’s such a pervasive issue:    YOU DO NOT NEED ALL THE STUFF. The stuff is beautiful. The spaces are beautiful.    But you know what else is beautiful?    Getting to be at home with your children.    Getting to spend time as a family, rather tha
